Darnel M. Butler

Darnel M. Butler was born on December 19 in New Brunswick, New Jersey to Donna Michele Porter and Dwayne Earl Butler. From birth, his family spoke words of encouragement over his life and declared that he would one day preach the gospel. Darnel has been ministering to churches for over 20 years now. At the early age of 13, he became very active with “Fusion”, the youth ministry at Rhema Bible Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Then in 1995, he became a faithful servant at Faithworld of Orlando, Florida, under Pastor Clint Brown. Here, he was a youth leader, dancer for the “365 Tribe” dance team, and drama team. He also served as the praise and worship leader for the youth group at FaithWorld. He later was called, with his parents, to The Gathering Place Worship Church, under Pastor Sam Hinn. Here, again, he served as youth leader and sang on the praise and worship teams for the adult and youth services. He remained here until graduating from Lake Mary High School and enrolling at Bethune-Cookman College in Daytona Beach, Florida in August of 1998. During his matriculation at B-CC, he was considered as a figure head for the 5 years he spent with the B-CC Inspirational Gospel Choir. It was in this choir that Darnel began to expand on his praise and worship and develop his love for writing music. He would watch the fingers of his Gospel Choir director, Mr. Vertellis Kendrick and mimic his every movement. He graduated from B-CC in the spring of 2003 with a major in Speech Communications & Theatre Arts and took on the position of Minister of Music & Arts at Allen Chapel AME Church in Daytona Beach, Florida. He served here from August 2003 until September 2006 and was the person responsible for teaching vocals to 4 choirs. He then moved to Bethel A.M.E. Church where he was charged with reviving the music ministry. He led a faithful and diverse group of individuals from September 2006 to August 2009. At that time, Darnel Butler felt a serious tugging at his heart and was called by God to the body of Relevant Church at The International Miracle Center in Daytona Beach, FL under Pastors Chris & Liz Sarno. He began to embrace the calling and the potential that was deep inside of him. He took on the position as Music Director and Worship Leader. During his 5 years at Relevant Church, he helped grow the team and added new musicians and high definition technology to the worship experience. Darnel then served as the Worship Pastor of Calvary Christian Center’s New Smyrna Beach campus. In 2017, God moved him to Tampa, FL where he currently serves as Director of Worship & Creative Arts at Crossover Church.
